by The miracle of feeding the five thousand beside women and children by multiplying this small fish dinner was an expression of Jesus’ Love to both meet a physical need and establish/help the faith of those in attendance.
In the end, 12 baskets remained, one for each disciple, each basket representing one of the twelves tribes of Israel (Jesus likely chose twelve disciples/apostles for this purpose too). The food left over would have been able to feed the disciples, who were likely tired in need of restoration after all the ministry and traveling they had just done.
2 Fish + 5 Loaves= 7, the number of perfection. Everything Jesus did was in Love, God being Love. God is Perfect. Jesus, yet again revealing His true identity both through an obvious miracle and subtle numerology.
